Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard
On Sunday, June 4th, Team Ragon will embark on the 32nd annual AIDS Walk Boston & 5K Run, one of the oldest walks of its kind in the country. About 10,000 people from across New England attend the event each year to walk for people living with HIV/AIDS. Participants walk/run for different reasons, but walk together for one common cause: to support AIDS Action Committee and its work to prevent new infections, maximize the health outcomes of those infected, and to end the epidemic here in Massachusetts. Over the past three decades, the walk has raised more than $40 million, which the AIDS Action Committee uses to provide services for people diagnosed with HIV infection and AIDS.
This year is even more special to the Ragon Team because our Director, Dr. Bruce Walker has been awarded the AIDS Action Committee’s 2017 Heroes in Action Award for his significant and lasting contributions to the fight against HIV/AIDS in MA. At the Ragon, we have a one single, critical mission - finding a cure/vaccine for HIV/AIDS. While our scientists continue to work every day to reach this goal, we cannot forget about those here in our own backyard already living with the virus every day. For over 20 years now, the Ragon Institute has been a long-time supporter of AIDS Action Committee, the state’s leading provider of prevention and wellness services, has fearlessly and selflessly served the HIV/AIDS community for over 30 years, and we are here to help!
