Jonathan's AIDS Walk Fundraising Page
The 32nd annual AIDS Walk Boston is coming up, on June 4th, 2017, and I'll once again be walking to raise money for AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts!
As you know, I've been doing the AIDS Walk (or 5 K run) Fundraiser every year since the 90s. Over the years, I made it my fundraising goal to surpass what I raised the previous year. In the recent years, my goals seemed initially simply too high to achieve, but in almost every year, you, my generous donors lifted me well past my goals. Last year's goal was $6,697, and you gave an amazing total... $7,400! In fact, since 2005, by my reckoning, you have given $41,914 to fight the HIV epidemic, and support AIDS Action Committee's programs. Some of you, particularly those in the MGH's Department of Molecular Biology, have been supporters for close to 20 years. Thank you!
But this is a year of change for me. On May 1, I'll be starting a job at the Ragon Institute, with a research focus on the immune response to HIV. This work will not only connect very well with my scientific interests, but also, I hope, contribute to something that could one day help people. There are a lot of amazing minds at the Ragon Institute working on human disease, particularly HIV/AIDS, but cures and vaccines for this disease are still a way off.
In the meantime, we need the work that organizations like AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts do, aimed at prevention and early detection of HIV infections, and providing services to people living with HIV. Therefore, my commitment to participate in AIDS Walk Boston remains strong.
Please consider making a donation.
