Julie's AIDS Walk Fundraising Page!
Yes, there has been great progress in treating people with AIDS and preventing new HIV infections, but we are not finished. So I'm walking again this year.
As always, my hope is that I will be able to stop walking because a cure has been found rather than because I am too old to walk 6.2 miles.
I walk for Dirk, Mark, Bill, Chris, Marion, Al, and so many others. I lost more friends than I care to count in the early years of AIDS, but advances in treatment and prevention, much of it funded by pledges such as yours, have helped lessen the impact of this disease. People are learning to live longer with the disease, but there is still no cure.
HIV is no longer the automatic death sentence it once was, but it still continues to devastate those who get a diagnosis. They still need help and support, information and lobbying. That is where the AIDS Action Committee comes in. AAC has been there since the beginning, and will continue to be there until the end of the epidemic. Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation today. Big pledges are great, but lots of small pledges add up, so anything you can give would be appreciated. Thank you.
